FIREFIGHTERS IN GUANGZHOU, China, had their hands full Sunday night when a fire broke out in an unfinished high-rise building. The 25-story building has been sitting in its incomplete state since 1998 but was being used as warehousing space for lumber, leather goods, and shoes.
The blaze was already in full bloom as the first of the eventual 380 FF's and 58 fire engines began arriving. By 6 am Monday morning they had the fire "under control." So far only one injury to a firefighter has been reported. It is not yet known how the fire got started. (The minister in charge of blaming a short circuit was not yet on the scene….ed.)
